Bike PCSO - Albion Place, Leeds

Bike Bicycle PCSO Leeds Albion Place

I was walking along Albion Place in the heart of Leeds when I saw these 2 on bikes.

I have no idea of their names, after I had approached them and asked if I could take the photo they agreed but then declined to be named. This I do not understand, my uncle Eric was a policeman, although in his day he would have been quite happy to say he was a copper, I know he would have been happy to have been named in a photo such as this.

  1. We have a few police officers who ride bikes around here and also some on horseback. I can understand their reluctance to give their names. I used to be married to a police officer and our car was vandalized one time by someone he gave a ticket to.

  2. You were 'lucky' they even posed for the photo - although someone should tell the one on the left that you just can't look hard on a push bike.

It seems these days less and less people like being stopped and asked if one can take their photograph and it has to be more difficult being that you're a male AND presumably have a local accent.

Now if you were a cute female tourist with a sexy French accent I'm sure you'd have got their names, email addresses and Facebook details !

  3. You were lucky you weren't arrested! As of yesterday it is now against the law to take a photo of a police person. Something to do with terrorism!

There is a piece about it on the BBC news site, in the UK section, if you want to read more :)

  4. They look serious about their jobs. We have police officers ride those little stand-up scooters - I can't remember the name off-hand...

But it's the ones on motorcycles you have to watch out for!

  5. Eliciting their names could be construed as a potential offence these days. At least they knew the law enough to know a photograph in a public place is inoffensive.

  6. You were lucky, I think. I've given up on anyone in uniform, as it were, tho I did get permission to take a photo from a very young soldier selling poppies in November.
