As can be seen in this photo if you should visit Haworth, please ensure you park within the rules, else this could be your car. Haworth has a reputation locally for being very strict about parking within the town. I was not surprised when I saw this car clamped in one of the town car parks.

As has been pointed out in the comments this small car park is privately owned and run. From comments in the press both nationally and locally, if you park in the Changegate car park at Haworth you will probably leave Haworth irate at being clamped and poorer by around £90. If you do not think it could happen to you his more famous victims are Baroness Betty Boothroyd (first lady speaker in the house of commons) also the Prime Minister of New Zealand!
Apart from the notorious clampers in the one car park Haworth is a very nice place to visit and I recommend a bite at the Cobbles and Clay cafe.

Well, that's a new way to get revenue for the city and meet the payroll. I don't think I have seen anything to equal it here.

ReplyDeleteI would just like to point out that the car park you mention is privately owned, by the company that does that clamping!! The Haworth traders, locals and tourists alike are completely sick of their bully boy tactics and they have made national news because of this. I can assure you none of the money goes anywhere apart from their pockets, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteThis car park is notorious. The owner is continually monitoring and anyone more than 1 minute late is clamped, incurring a £75 pound fine. This is at the changegate car park. There are others nearby which are council run and cheaper. Natually you get a better deal if you are delayed at a council car park. The owner of this car park is greedy and unprofessional.
ReplyDeleteDo not park in this car park because if you are held up by just 5 minutes you will be clamped. The owner is unreasonable and greedy. He is only interested in getting £75 from you in any way he can. Other carpark owners are reasonable, but this man is not. He will state 'rules are rules' and enjoy taking your money, which legally he is unfortunately, for now, entiled to do. However anyone with an ounce of humanity know's this is legalised robbery of vulnerable and defenceless people. How is he able to get away with it - because the people of Howarth let him!!
