I love small independent shops, I really despair of many of our retailers, especially the chains. Why would anyone want the high streets of our towns and cities to be very similar. I for one do not, I want to see people with enterprise offering something different.
I have not been to Hebden Bridge for a few years and there have been some changes since last I was there. One of them is a shop called The Yorkshire Soap Company and they have a bubble machine by the door to entice people to look in.
They are to soap what Bon Bons in Leeds are to chocolate. This is not your average soap and indeed as it says on the Yorkshire Soap Company website "indulge" is the word.
I think the delicacies in the dish in the above photograph are wonderful, pity they are not edible.
They can be found at

The soaps look so yummy. I would love to have several in a dish and see if anyone would try to eat one.

This is a lovely photo, looks like it could be the front page of good food magazine!
I think they sell these soaps in Rose and Co in the VQ.
I used to work in Lush and we once found a bite mark in the honeycomb soap- it did smell good enough to eat!
I totally agree with the chain store comment, this is why I try to review as many independent restaurants as possible.
Thank you so much for visiting our little soap boutique and I am really glad you enjoyed your trip out to Hebden.
The photo looks great and as Katie rightly pointed out - these are little bath truffles - handmade for us and Rose and Co apothecary by bomb cosmetics.
The majority of our soaps and bath treats are handmade by ourselves - our speciality being a 3 tier soap wedding cake with soap roses and our patisserie range of soap cakes and soap cupcakes - the lemon meringue soap cake is delicious and contains no calories!
Thanks again Paul and we hope to see you in the shop again soon.
