Heron on the River Aire at Saltaire in Yorkshire

Heron Saltaire River Aire Yorkshire

I have seen this heron a few times on the river Aire in the village of Saltaire in Yorkshire but on this day I had my camera and I got close enough to get a reasonable photograph of it. He is stood on a very small island mid river by the weir adjacent to Salts Mill in Saltaire.

  1. Good shot, I often see Herons on the golf course in Ilkley where it lies along the river. Last night one was being driven off by a screaming pack of Jackdaws.

  3. That is a nice bird shot. I seldom see any birds that large here but then if I go somewhere else I do. LOL I like the colors on this bird which are quite different from the Great Blue Heron that I am more familiar with.

  4. Very nice photo of this heron. They are quite timid and take to flight seemingly before they take notice of us. Lovely colors reflected from the river.
