This is the BBC Yorkshire building, home to the studios of television and radio for the English region of Yorkshire on the BBC.
The regional headquarters and television centre is at St. Peter's Square, in Leeds city centre near the West Yorkshire Playhouse with local radio studios and television bureaux also located in the National Media Museum in Bradford, York and Sheffield.
BBC Yorkshire is the home of the flagship regional news programme Look North, this is the home of well know local TV presenters Christa Ackroyd, Harry Gration and last but not least Paul Hudson the weatherman.
Until 26 September 2004, Look North Leeds was produced from the BBC's broadcasting centre at Woodhouse Lane, close to the University of Leeds and from the following day it moved to the current building show in the photograph above.

Paul the Weather Man should have so been mentioned first, he is the reason I bother watching LN till the end! Ha. Loving this site :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing this photograph reminded me that some of our local television station buildings seem to not fit in this century at all and I wonder if television, aka the BBC, is still as popular as it always was.
ReplyDeleteI did manage to get some peony blooms this year and recorded them on my flower blog.
