My photo today is unusual on The Leeds Photo Daily because I was not in Yorkshire when I photographed this fine building.
I rarely see the coast these days living as I do in the middle of Yorkshire, England miles from the sea. On this day I drove down to Norfolk, a county in East Anglia to collect my new camera body (new to me that is).
This building is the Custom House in Kings Lynn which is a Grade I listed building and a fine looking one at that. Today it houses the Kings Lynn Tourist Information Office as I discovered when the nice lady recommended to me somewhere for a bite to eat and gave me a free map.
I know of towns in England that make a charge for a small map, but I feel that is not really a good way to introduce a newcommer to a town. Tourists like I was for some of the day spend money locally, I have a nice day everyone wins.
The King's Lynn Custom House is one of the town's most iconic landmarks. It was designed by architect Henry Bell and built by Sir John Turner in 1685.
I am pleased to say that Kings Lynn is a nice attractive place and everyone I spoke with could not have been nicer or more helpful
