This building is the Leeds Blood Donor Centre on the Headrow in Leeds city centre. I used to donate blood regularly, however the last few years I got out of the habit. Now that the The National Blood Service has opened this blood donation centre right in the heart of Leeds I will get back into it again.
Shortly after taking this photograph I went into the centre and gave blood. I have never needed it, but you never can tell and it costs nothing to perhaps help someone at a difficult time in their life.
Besides that you can get a free coffee and a chocolate biscuit! So if you live in or near Leeds in West Yorkshire what is stopping you?
The address is

I guess I should give blood. There are many mobile blood donor centres across Sweden. I wrote a post about the blood bus back in 2007.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Only a very small percentage of adults eligable to give blood actually do, its a shame because it is invaluable in medical treatments. Just one unit can be split up to help several different people, its amazing what it is used for. The NBS have a facinating website, well worth a read.
ReplyDeleteHopefully someone will donate after seeing this post. I cannot donate blood here in Australia, the reason being if you lived in UK between 1980 and 1996 you are not eligible. I left UK in 1982.
