Moles

Mole Hills Yorkshire

I would love to able to post a photo of a mole on here but this picture is the nearest I seem to get to them.

I passed a large garden a couple of days back and it was just about covered in mole hills. I just took a sample photo, rather than the whole lawn.

I have loved the story of The Wind in the Willows, since I was a small boy and I guess I am quite influenced by the characters. Much as I love a nice lawn I like moles too and toads, badgers indeed all of our native wildlife.

  1. Oh my, I too like Wind in the Willows but I had no idea they could so thoroughly dig up a lawn!

  2. I wondered what kind of moles you were going to be posting about Paul. These are impressive holes- moles have a right to go where they like but it must be frustrating if you are a keen gardener ;-)

  3. Makes me think of the movie Caddieshack. I love those little critters, too, so my lawn would probably look like this! I may pick up Wind in the Willows...I've heard of it but never read it. My boys may like it

  4. After many years of watching wildlife I have only ever once seen a live mole, to stand any chance you have to be there as they surface through a fresh hole.

  5. That is fascinating Paul. The whole lawn must be a bit of a mess.
