Cornflower

Cornflower Wildflower

I love this time of the year, wildflowers that for much of the year lie unnoticed begin to flower and this cornflower is one of them.

I saw a small patch of cornflowers growing on the verge of a country lane a few days back and got my camera out for a few photos.

  1. Lovely close up and the green contrast is stunning.

  2. I think this is such a pretty flower. I took a photo of one almost identical to this a few years ago when I was living in Washington State. I was told the flower in my photo was knapweed, which is an invasive species. However it looks just like this one, so you've got me doing a little research to figure out the distinction. It seems that cornflower is a non-invasive variety. Very interesting!
