Old Post Box Rodley

This old post box is in the wall of a house in the village of Rodley. Its beyond the garden wall and not reachable from the nearby pavement so I think thats why its not sealed. I think it looks rather nice in black and gold.

  1. While I love the red mailboxes, this is very striking in black and gold. I've never seen one before, thank you for sharing.

Odd that it only has the initials 'GR', indicating the then current sovereign, with no number saying to which 'George Rex' it relates. Since post boxes were only introduced in Queen Victoria's reign one can only assume that it's therefore George the Fifth, who would at the time have been the only George to be King since post boxes came into being.
