Picture of gold postbox at Rawdon, Leeds. This post box adjacent to the Post Office in Rawdon, Leeds was painted gold on Sunday in honour of Paralympic cyclist David Stone. David grew up in Rawdon and when I was taking the above photo I asked several people walking past and they all knew who it was for.
The city of Leeds now has three gold post boxes, the above at Rawdon, one at Horforth for triathlete Alistair Brownlee and also one in the city centre for boxer Nicola Adams.
I have been struggling to post over the last few days, my internet connection keeps falling over. Talktalk are great except when it does not work, ringing them is pointless I have found, they are very nice and helpful but it must be a fault at my end.

Nice to see the post office takes the time to honour your countries athletes. My wife was disappointed at the lack of TV coverage of the paralympic games in Canada.
ReplyDeleteInternet (or computer) problems can be very frustrating, good luck with resolving the issue. The postboxes are such a great way to honor athletes and it seems Yorkshire's been having an amazing Olympic year.
ReplyDelete(Hopefully you'll have a chance to photograph the Jersey cows in your area - I agree they're a very pretty animal and wonderfully gentle).
Andy, I'm as disappointed over the US coverage as your wife is over Canada's. However, the happiness and pride the Brits have shown over these paralympic games is a joy to see. What a pleasure, and a great rally for England.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea and the reason for doing it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
( In Stavanger we have the swimmer, Sarah Louise Rung, who did very well (even GOLD) at the games in London)
