Picture of clematis flower with ladybird.I saw some nice looking clematis flowers a few days back and closer inspection this one had a little visitor.
I recently discovered that there are 46 different types of ladybird or ladybug here in the British Isles. I find this figure incredible, there I was thinking that there were perhaps half a dozen at most. This reminds me a little of the recent story about the discovery of a new species of frog in heavily populated NYC. The frogs were there all along on Staten Island and Manhattan but no one had noticed that they were different from all the other frogs.

This capture is absolutely amazing. The clematis is beautiful, and I love the ladybug in the center. Had no idea how many different ones there were. Fabulous macro this week. genie
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful picture, what a flower and I do love ladybirds (I sometimes lapse automatically into using the English vs. American word, depending on the blog owner's locale :). How amazing there are that many in the UK! I recall that NY Times article too, nature constantly surprises us.
ReplyDeleteI was talking about the different usages with LOLfromPasa on her Coventry blog, Lulu. They seem like the same language, but sometimes we must translate for each other!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in this photo. Well done.
Nearly every flower photo I take I find there is a bug lurking somewhere. The must be thousands upon thousands of them in just a normal suburban garden.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely shot ... the colours are beautiful.
Perfectly captured with that little bug as a bonus.
ReplyDelete46?! That is amazing, great shot.
