Picture of the Leeds city art galleryThis is the entrance to the Leeds City Art Gallery on The Headrow in Leeds city centre.
I suspect that these steps are busier since they opened a cafe in the central library next door that is easily accessible from just inside the gallery hallway.

Always a good thing to have a nice cafe in art galleries, a sure fire winner I would think.
ReplyDeleteImpressive entrance. And that sculpture on the right, do you know whose it is? Seems I've seen similar works not only in Paris, but in Pasadena as well! I could be wrong (it happens) but I think the Norton Simon has a work or two by this artist.
ReplyDeleteThe steps could use some cleaning. I like the resting sculpture.
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued by the dual library + gallery signage. Very inviting and great sculpture to boot.
ReplyDeletePetrea Burchard asks who created the sculpture on the right-hand side of the entrance and I seemed to recall that it was by Henry Moore as there is a large collection of his work inside the Gallery. Sure enough it is, and the Leeds Daily Photo featured this sculpture on 20th May 2009 .
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dave. The name was on the tip of my tongue but I couldn't think of it. There are a couple of Moore works at the Norton Simon here in Pasadena, in the sculpture gardene. One called King and Queen is particularly amusing:

His works are distinctive, I think.
