Inside the public library at Bramley yesterday I noticed some small owl shaped posters on the internal windows.
These posters are promoting entries to the Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards 2013. I have always loved film and just because its short, in this case 10 minutes or under, does not necessarily mean it is of a lesser worth. Ridley Scott one of our best known British film directors started out making shorts, in his case TV adverts years before making his debut film The Duellists 1977 this being just 2 years before Alien 1977!
The rules for entry to the young peoples Golden Owls are pretty simple and can be found here.

I love film and amidst news of budget cuts in arts education & funding (at least in the States), it's wonderful to see things like this, encouraging new talent. (Ridley Scott was a partner behind an interesting project: Life in a Day. It turned reader-submitted YouTube clips - the ultimate short, it seems - into a feature film; it was a powerful idea.)
ReplyDeleteCreative and nice logo.
ReplyDeleteI like films, and I guess several very good ones will be shown.
