Park Bench Memorial

Park Bench LeedsPicture of park bench Roundhay, Leeds

This wooden park bench is in a section of Roundhay Park just off Mansion Lane in Roundhay, Leeds. These days whenever I see one of these park benches in a nice setting I am reminded of the scene in the film "Notting Hill".

This bench has a small metal plaque with words engraved that read: Treasured memories of our devoted parents Jean and Gerald Stanley special times were spent here.

This bench is just inside the park in the specialist gardens section and through the Monet Garden.

  1. I've always loved the idea of benches with plaques dedicated to someone who was loved and treasured by someone else, and I think it's a shame it is not done in Germany (or, if it is, I've hardly ever seen it anywhere).

  2. I think Llandudno is the capital of the world when it comes to benches with plaques on them, there must be literally thousands of them dotted throughout the town! And you're right about the Notting Hill thing too!
