Picture of sign for the specialist gardens of Roundhay Park, Leeds.
Until the last few days it had been some time since I last visited Roundhay Park here in Leeds. It was back last summer when I was invited to the Red Bull Flugtag Leeds event and my visit to the park then was confined to the event.
Prior to these two visits I had been more interested in checking out the meerkats, rather than the park itself.
Apart from the formal gardens adjacent to Tropical World at Roundhay Park was I think a wonderful large open park but perhaps lacking in planted gardens. Since my first visit some years back to the Monet Garden here they have added some new gardens and put up signs like they one above pointing out what they have called their specialist gardens.
Apart from the Monet Garden there are now a few others, these are the Alhambra Garden, the 2008 Chelsea Garden, the 2009 Hesco Garden and the 2010 Hesco Garden.

I'd love to see a sign like this in my neck of the woods. How lucky you have so many green spaces to choose from, they make such a difference in quality of life, no matter where you live!
ReplyDeleteParks and gardens are so important for any city, no matter how "planted" they are. And they are somehow always attractive, in all kinds of weather.
ReplyDeleteInteresting there's such a range of climates in Leeds!
ReplyDeletePS: When are you going to tell us the answer to the riddle from October 10th? :-)
ReplyDeleteLots of different gardens to enjoy and explore!
